About Us
Magellan Behavioral Health created this site to help you gather information about providers that are in your area. This site seeks to empower people to become more educated participants in their own behavioral health care.
Magellan Behavioral Health
Magellan Behavioral Health is America's leading managed behavioral health and wellness company. We offer a full spectrum of traditional and web-based managed behavioral health, EAP and work/life services designed to promote overall wellness and help make life more manageable. Whether it's our innovative prevention programs, flexible managed care services or wide selection of work/life offerings, our high quality services help us expand access to needed wellness services while responding to the needs of our customers.
Magellan Behavioral Health is organized around three key customer segments:
- Health
Plan Solutions Group - Serving HMOs, PPOs, indemnity insurers, state employee purchasers, DoD/TRICARE, and their members.
- Workplace Group - Serving self-insured employers and health and welfare trust funds, their employees, members and dependents.
- Public Solutions Group - Serving public purchasers of behavioral health services and their members and families.
As the leader in managed behavioral healthcare, Magellan Behavioral Health is committed to promoting access to resources for the treatment of mental illness and looking at ways to prevent mental health problems. As an organization, we have made a conscious effort to target additional resources to national programs that further our goals to promote access and prevention.
The Campaign to End Discrimination
Magellan Behavioral Health has proudly partnered with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) as a sponsor of its Campaign to End Discrimination since December of 1998. The Campaign focuses attention on acts of discrimination that serve as barriers to effective treatment and seeks to alleviate the stigma that is all too often associated with mental health disorders. Despite evidence that mental illnesses can be diagnosed and treated as precisely and effectively as other medical disorders, confusion about mental health disorders and treatments remain.
The Campaign's accomplishments include:
- Supporting the first White House Summit on Mental Health during which America's key political leaders echoed messages and themes that The Campaign has been promoting.
- Along with NAMI grassroots advocates, enacting parity legislation in 33 states, adding to the list of those that require equal insurance coverage for mental and physical illness.
- Working with the White House to bring full parity to the nine million people covered by the Federal Employers Health Benefits Plan, the nation's largest insurer.
Building Best Practices
Magellan Behavioral Health also supports the efforts of the National Mental Health Association (NMHA) to identify and develop consensus on a set of performance indicators and measures for preventive interventions. The National Mental Health Association (NMHA) is the country's oldest and largest nonprofit organization addressing all aspects of mental health and mental illness. With more than 340 affiliates nationwide, NMHA works to improve the mental health of all Americans, especially the 54 million individuals with mental disorders, through advocacy, education, research and service.
Magellan Health Services
Magellan Health Services, parent company of Magellan Behavioral Health,
is the nation's leading managed behavioral health, wellness and human
services company, with responsibility for the care management of 68 million
individuals nationwide, nearly 1 in 3 insured Americans.
